Guest Bio:
Chief Jason Lando was selected as the Chief of Police for the Frederick Police Department in March 2021. Jason previously spent 21 years with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, serving his last seven years as Commander. In his capacity as leading one of Pittsburgh’s busiest and most diverse districts, Jason and his team implemented several initiatives to unite police officers and community members. Since arriving in Frederick, Chief Lando has worked with his team to implement several new programs and initiatives. FPD established a mental health co-responder program known as the “Crisis Car” program and a Multi-Cultural Liaison Unit designed to strengthen relationships between police and the community. Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in Legal Studies from the California University of Pennsylvania. When he is not working, Jason volunteers as a Big Brother to 15-year-old Jayden as part of the Big-Brothers Big-Sisters “Bigs in Blue” program.
